Is Wrong Envelope free?
Yes. Wrong Envelope is completely free with no ads and no in-app purchases.
Do I need an internet connection to play?
No. All quiz questions are built into the app, so you can play anywhere without Wi-Fi or cellular data. An internet connection is only needed for syncing your Oscar predictions if you sign in.
Do I need to create an account?
No. You can play quizzes, make predictions, and track films without signing in. Signing in (with Apple, Google, or email) lets you sync your data across devices and share your picks with friends.
How does scoring work?

Each correct answer is worth 100 base points. You earn a speed bonus of up to 50 extra points for answering quickly. Consecutive correct answers build a streak multiplier:

  • 2+ streak → 1.5x
  • 4+ streak → 2x
  • 6+ streak → 2.5x
  • 8+ streak → 3x

If the timer runs out, it counts as a wrong answer and your streak resets.

What are the achievements?

There are 6 achievements to unlock:

  • First Quiz — Complete your first quiz
  • Perfect Score — Get every question right in a quiz
  • On Fire — Reach a 10-question streak
  • Speed Demon — Answer 5 questions with more than 7 seconds remaining
  • Centurion — Answer 100 lifetime questions
  • Completionist — Play all 24 categories
How do Oscar Picks work?
Head to the Picks tab to browse every ceremony category. Tap a category, select the nominee you think will win, and save your pick. When you're ready, lock your picks and share them with friends. After the ceremony, your picks are scored based on category importance — Best Picture is worth the most.
What is the Seen tracker?
The Seen tab shows every film nominated at the Academy Awards. Check off the ones you've watched to see your coverage across categories. It's a great way to plan your viewing before Oscar night.
Is Wrong Envelope available on Android?
Wrong Envelope is available on iOS and on the web. The Android version is currently in closed beta testing — you can join the beta to try it early.
How do I delete my account and data?
You can delete your account from the Settings screen in the app or from the Account page on our website. You can also clear specific data (quiz history, picks, or seen films) individually without deleting your account. Alternatively, email admin@wrongenvelope.com and we'll delete your account and all associated data within 30 days.
